Guitar legend John Beland who contributed "Young World" to the recent critically acclaimed Rick Nelson tribute -was a guest onair via telephone on Australia's "Saturday Night Country" - For the best part of the last decade, John Nutting has hosted this weekly show across Australia on Local ABC Radio stations and across the world on Radio Australia and through streaming audio via the World Wide Web. Beland discusses his time with Rick Nelson and talks a bit about "Easy To Be Free: The Songs of Rick Nelson." Take a listen.

Recent Jesus and Mary Chain Biography

JAMC BookRecently released is a pretty comprehensive biography of the legendary Jesus And Mary Chain as compiled and written by Mikko Kapanen --titled Psychotic Chain Reaction (aka Psykoottinen Ketjureaktio),the book was released in Finnish and English editions by publishers Pop Lehti - the English edition is limited to 150! They don't appear to have an English version of the site but their contact details are here if you want to email them in English. Planting Seeds' even has a mention in this book with the out of print fan Mary Chain tribute from 1999 plus the stellar "Sunsets & Silhouettes" - good stuff!

Pinkie News

Alex Sharkey has been busy the last several months recording tracks for Pinkie's follow-up to 2004's criticial pop masterpiece "Sharon Fussy." Along with recording new music, Alex will be on board playing bass for Matinee Recording artists Harper Lee's tour in support of their latest release "He Holds A Flame" EP (Matinee 061). The first show is scheduled for Pop Revo festival which will be held the 14th-16th of September at Studenterhuset by the harbour in Aarhus, Denmark.Harper Lee will be performing on the 16th. Other great artists to appear are BMX Bandits, Secret Shine, and many more. Pinkie live dates will also be in the works for the near future. Pinkie's 2000 mini LP "My Little Experiment will get the remix/remastering treatment via the UK's Space Dog records.  No releae date has been set but more news as we get it in.

Hey Mr. Tamborine Folks

For those awaiting the Planting Seeds' release of UK band The Tamborines single "What Took You So Long" (PSRCD-043) - that release has been shelved since the dropping of the band's UK label Decadent. In place will be the 7" release of "Sally O'Gannon" and "Be Around" as the b side - both newly recorded tracks from sessions in Oxford, England. It's the first record as a four piece which also features special guest appearances from Frank Teardrop (Brian Jonestown Massacre) on mellodica and Mark Gardener (Ride) on vocals. The single will be the debut release on UK label Sonic Cathedral and will be released on August 28, 2006.
