Scott
Meiggs and company have spent the last several months rehearsing songs
for the bands upcoming LP due out in 2008. Joining the band on lead guitar
is Dave Moore (formerly of 8-Track, and pre-PSR band September
Rain - an early outfit featuring Scott Meiggs, Neil DelParto, Chris

from 8-Track). The Smoke Kit will be playing some shows in the very near
future, more details as we get them. The LP will be the band's first release

July". More news filtering in as we speak.
The Jesus And Mary Chain Setting Up Into The New Year
No
Freeheat news? That's not all together bad news - No worries, since
Jim Reid and brother William have continued The Jesus And Mary Chain
reunion with the recording of a new LP their first in 10 years ("Munkie"
was released on Subpop in 1998) - the band recently recorded "All Things
Must Pass" in Los Angeles during their October California/Colorado dates,
for inclusion on NBC-TV's "Heroes" show soundtrack. Billboard
also reports they are fielding calls from labels of all sorts and sizes.
Look for a late Spring/early Summer 2008 release. Rhino records has also
announced it will release a box set of rarities and alternate/acoustic versions
- a quote somewhere stating they've pretty much raided the vaults.
In more JAMC news, they are set to return to the live stage with two dates in 2008
in London at the Roundhouse - March 11th and 12th. For more information
