THE LOVETONES - more reviews drop in for their latest critically
acclaimed LP "Lost" read on:
"the paisley clad highway towards the heart that beats psychedelic
pop...a thick jangle and velvety flare of guitars, wide lapels of keyboards
and a tight rhythm section....the hazy vocals, close your eyes and you are
transported somewhere else, 1968." - AMERICANA UK (November,
2010)
"More beautiful psych pop from Aussie Matthew Tow. This records
seems to tone down the fuzz a bit and focus more on acoustic tunes , which
suits his style just fine. A definite Beatles influence (and some Pink Floyd
as well). The title trac......k reminded me of the best Clientele tunes.
This might be my favorite record by them yet (and I have liked all of their
previous ones)." - DAGGER (USA, November 2010)
"a rather splendid collection that demonstrates their mastery of the
pop song. They bring together influences from every decade -- the Byrds,
David Bowie and the Stone Roses...a very satisfying listen." -

A Toast To 2009! Happy New Year!
A Look Back at some of the PSR highlites of 2009...Well here we are,
the last day of 2009. I can say for sure it's been a long crazy year. Along
the way we had some good old fashion fun - from traveling to DC, NYC to
California. The year kicked off with conitinued promotions for the fabulous
debut from Oxford's INTERNATIONAL JETSETTERS which got a big thumbs
up from legendary LA DJ Rodney Bingenheimer - "Inside Out"
was on rotation for a solid month on his Sunday night show "RODNEY
ON THE ROQ". The IJs also played in support of Glen Tilbrook formerly
of Squeeze at the Halesworth GIG IN THE PARK and at the legendary
CAVERN CLUB in Liverpool (as part of the '09 International Pop Overthrow)
among several other shows the band scheduled. The band is currently finishing
up their next EP along with working on various other projects.
In February we released the very fantasitc "Dimensions"
LP from Australia's THE LOVETONES. Their LP raced up the CMJ Music
charts peaking out in the Top 100 - with their LP gathering rave reviews
from music folks worldwide. The band followed in May with a US Tour that
kicked off in NYC...the PSR crew were able to hop along on the East Coat
dates and had much fun hanging out with Matt Tow, Matt Sigley, Rob Campanella,
Nelson Bragg and the guys from The Young Sinclairs. The band later did their
West Coast tour which included dates in Seattle, Portland, Sacramento, San
Francisco. The band is currently recording their next LP.
We quickly followed with the release of LINDA DRAPER's third PSR
release "Bridge And Tunnel" - which kicked off in April 2009 in
Norfolk, VA at the lengendary Attucks Theater for the LPs special pre-release
show. The album once again received rave reviews from music critics around
the globe - MAGNET, DELUSIONS OF ADEQUACY, BIG TAKEOVER among others. Linda
also embarked on her second West Coast tour. The first show of the tour
- at Spaceland (Los Angeles) was amazing - a packed house and an opening
spot for COTTON JONES and THE PARSON REDHEADS. She followed with another
great LA performance with the delightful indie pop of PAULA KELLEY w/ AARON
TAP at The Room 5 Lounge. Linda closed out her LA area shows with a cool
performance (which featured bassist Rob Woodcock) with OLD TOY TRAINS at
the Silverlake Lounge. The tour also made stops in Portland, Seattle, and
San Francisco. Towards the end of the year Linda made a return performance
on WBAB (NYC) RADIO UNNAMEABLE hosted by BOB FASS. Linda Draper is gearing
up for the late January drop date of "Pushing Up The Day" Digital
EP which features the triple A-side release of the title track, "So
Long", and "Sleepwalkers".
MORE PSR '09 HIGHLITES:
San Diego's A.M. VIBE released their 2nd LP "Capricorno"
via PSR in March to great reviews in THE BIG TAKEOVER, PENNYBLACK MUSIC,
DAGGER, DELUSIONS OF ADEQUACY among a slew of indie music pulications. We
managed to travel down to San Diego, CA to catch the band performing its
high energy fuzzed out indie rock at the Art Around Adams Festival in June.
THE VOYCES returned in September with their second PSR release "Let
Me Die In California" which has already made several year end best
of lists...Brian Wurschum made several radio appearances in support of the
LP. The album got a surplus of blog reveiws...more is still to come in 2010...live
dates are rumored...
FREEHEAT/THE JESUS AND MARY CHAIN's BEN LURIE resurfaced with a trio
of new tracks with possibilities of even more to come...
PINKIE spent most of the year finishing up recording on the latest
LP "Dreams, They'd Be There Too"...which is looking like an early
2010 drop date...
THE TAMBORINES wrapped up the recording of their new LP...2010 looks
to be a big year....
Of course there are so many more great events that happened in 2009, the
above are one's I remember from the top. Here's looking forward to more
in 2010 and beyond. Thanks goes out to those who continue to support the
cause...you all know who you are...cheers!
