Astropop 3
Astropop 3 produces a fine blend of 1960s pop/rock with 1990's shoegaze/Britpop sounds. Their catalog consists of toe-tapping, familiar, and refreshing songs -- from the first syrupy-sweet pop hits on 1998's self-titled release, to the hard rock driven numbers of their third LP "Allies And Stepping Stones." Always growing, always expanding their musical venture with a revolving cast centered around singer/songwriter/guitarist Dan Villaneuva. Dan has written, produced and directed the course of the band starting with it's inception in 1995, from his Norfolk, Virginia college campus house. A short indie rock attempt at shoegaze driven pop under the moniker "Our Starblazers" appeared and disappeared into the rechristening of the Astropop 3 of the present. The future is now and the band continues to offer a mixed bag of pop-rock gems with four-on-the-floor shift-into-gear jams that link and push the bounds of the indie rock experience.
