A Portion of the proceeds from this benefit record go to San Diego based The Keep-A-Breast Foundation. The Keep A Breast Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. Their mission is to help eradicate breast cancer by exposing young people to methods of prevention, early detection and support. Through art events, educational programs and fundraising efforts they seek to increase breast cancer awareness among young people so they are better equipped to make choices and develop habits that will benefit their long-term health and well being.

Keep A Breast Music for Awareness is a unique avenue for musicians to donate their time and influence the lives of their fans and so many more. Bands, promoters and YOU are invited to step up and start making a difference. This campaign will allow anyone to play a role with KAB and throw his or her very own benefit show in support of breast cancer awareness and prevention through KAB. This program was inspired by all of the musicians that support our cause and was developed to provide an outlet that inspires people to better themselves and their communities.

BULLZ-EYE MAGAZINE (USA)
Various Artists: Blue Skies Daisy Days

Most compilations are derived from some conceptual design, designed
either as a tribute to an iconic artist or outfit, or as a live set
showcasing a particular venue. Then there’s wholly ordinary idea of the
label sampler which spotlights a group of musicians whose only common
bond lies in the fact they all represent the same record company. Sure,
it’s self-serving, but when there’s a good cause involved, the added
benefit of charitable support makes the opportunity to hear new music
an added advantage. That’s the case with Blue Skies Daisy Days,
a generous 21-track collection featuring the cream of the Planting
Seeds Records roster (as well as notable outside guests) and the
promise to donate part of its proceeds to the Keep a Breast Foundation.
Granted, one has to look below the surface and do some exploration to
uncover the more notable names – the International Jetsetters, for
example, feature members of the Jesus and Mary Chain and Ride, while
the Primary 5 and the Loose Salute represent expatriates from Teenage
Fanclub and the Mojave 3, respectively – but even so, the music alone
provides plenty of incentive. The tunes contained herein are as
uniformly sunny as their banner implies. Blissful, sweetly ethereal,
lush and melodic without exception, the quality is consistent
throughout, ensuring any time spent listening is well worth the effort.

BLUE SKIES DAISY DAYS-
(PLANTING SEEDS)-The Planting Seeds label has already released a few
terrific comps and this one is no exception. There's 21 songs on here
and it's broken into 2 sides, songs 1-11 is the Blue Skies side while
12-21 is the Daisy Days side. The record starts off with the
International Jetsetters remix of "Inside Out" then goes right into The
Corner Laughers gentle "Stonewords." Later on The Tamborines offer up
the fizzed-out classic "Be Around" while Allen Clapp's Fairwood Singers
toss in the stylish "Half Life." Also on the Blue Skies side is The
Ocean Blue, The Loose Salute (Mojave 3 side project), The Voyces and a
few other worthy bands. Daisy Days includes the majestic, horn-soaked
60's pop of Loz Colbert , the Teenage Fan Club-ish Primary 5 plus cuts
from The Incredible Vickers Brothers, Michael Barrett, Pinkie and
several others. A superb comp and a portion of the proceeds from sale
of this go to the Keep A Breast Foundation so this is well worth
picking up. www.plantingseedsrecords.com

[V/A] - "Blue Skies Daisy Days" cd
(Planting Seeds)

Here's another mood-themed compilation from Planting Seeds, though I
haven't exactly figured out what the mood is supposed to be. Judging
from the title and first several tracks, I expected poppier fare than
the placid "Sunsets And Silhouettes", but many of these songs are in a
more somber vein. Many of the usual PSR suspects are present, including
Pinkie, Michael Barrett, Tamborines, the Voyces, Linda Draper
(collaborating with Color Filter) and the label's newest signing,
International Jetsetters. You'll also find other great bands and
personalities, like Primary 5 (who turn in one of the disc's few
non-exclusive songs), Ocean Blue, Loz Colbert (who gives us a very
interesting Sgt. Pepper-ish tune), Nic Dalton and Fairwood Singers (an
Allen Clapp project). I was also introduced to a number of bands with
this collection (more so than previous comps from the label), with
favorites including Left Outsides, Corner Laughers and Parson Red
Heads. And besides being a fine collection of songs, this is a benefit
for a breast cancer charity, making for a disc that is as worthy as it
is enjoyable. MTQ=16/21

THE FINEST KISS (USA)

Sporting a cover that reminds me of those old Sarah compilations, Blue Skies Daisy Days is a compilation from Planting Seeds Records
that contains 21 tracks from a very impressive line-up. I remember the
first couple Sarah compilations I bought, most of the bands were
pretty much unknown to me, but after listening to each one, I instantly
became a fan of 90% of the bands on the record. Such is the case with
Blue Skies Daisy Days, at first I only recognized a handful of the
names, but after listening to it, it’s safe to say that there isn’t a
rotten apple in the bunch (or wilted daisy for that matter).

There are some familiar names like the Ocean Blue. Former Ride drummer Loz Colbert
appears twice, once in the lead off song from the International
Jetsetters and a second time as himself with the psychedlic early Bee Gees
sounding Rainy Days on Sunday. It makes you realize he isn’t only a
great drummer, especially if there is more where this comes from.
Another familiar name to me was John Moore of Black Box Recorder, who shows up with his Auteurs-like Tired of London. There are lots of new bands too, like Londoners (by way of Brazil) the Tambourines with their buzzing, fuzzy pop and SoCal’s A.M. Vibe mining a Sundays
like, erm vibe. I’m leaving out a whole bunch of fabulous stuff by the
likes of the Incredible Vickers Brothers, Loose Salute, the Stevenson
Ranch Davidians and the Voyces. It’s all so good that you’ll have a
new favorite song after each listen. You can also buy it knowing that
part of the money will be going to a good cause in the Keep a Breast Foundation.

WE HEART MUSIC (USA)

I was completely sucked in from the moment I saw the words: Teenage, Jesus, Ride and Fanclub.... and I hadn't even heard it yet!

Blue Skies Daisy Days is the latest compilation from Planting Seeds Records. With the likes of such heroes (heroes of mine anyway) as: International Jetsetters (members of The Jesus & Mary Chain +
Ride), Loz Colbert (Ride) and The
Primary 5 (members of Teenage Fanclub); who wouldn't be sucked in? Don't answer that.

Let's
just say this album is right up my alley. With 24 tracks I'm not going
to be going into detail about all the tunes. Let's just say the album
has an overall feel of smooth 90's shoegaze-esque pop rock (is that
broad enough?).
The Ocean Blue (left) sing a little song called Ticket to Wyoming,
which is a poppy little piece that simply makes me smile. It's echoey
and reminds me of something or sometime i just can't put my finger on...

The Primary 5 definitely can be identified as some Teenage Fanclub offshoot. Their song Happy, aside from the country-style slide guitar the vocals are unmistakably Teenage Fanclub stylings.

As I type and listen to this track, Change Your Mind by The Parson Red Heads,
I feel bad that I'm frantically trying to workout whether there are any
members of Sloan in the band. It's quite similar, I must say. Cute
harmonies over the top of catchy guitar riffs with a hint of horns.

Inside Out by International Jetsetters (left) is a bit more rock, a bit more noise, a bit more tambourine than most of the others (apart from the track by The Tambourines,
which in theory is 100% tambourines). It'd be one of those songs that
your mum would make you turn down if you had it playing while you
were giving her a lift to the shops in the car, but really is not as
offensive as she'd make out.

Overall,
this album, for some
reason, has a summer feel. Is it the title that is creating bias in my
brain? No, I don't think so. This music reminds me of the days (back in
ye olde 90's) when I was perhaps in high school, but with my drivers
license, listening to music not unlike this.... happy and worry free.

But for a sense of heartwarming goodness you must buy the album knowing that a portion of the proceeds from this benefit record will go to San Diego based The

Various
Blue Skies Daisy Days (Planting
Seeds) A twenty four track compilation in support of a group
that helps raise consciousness about breast cancer and it’s potential
prevention. A portion of the proceeds go to this organization. Anyway the music is varied indie-pop and all pretty nice. Besides folks like The Ocean Blue, Nic Dalton and Pinkie we also have Dream Magazine chums The Left Outsides doing a lovely piece called Out of Time; Out of Place. It’s all quite charming and melodic for the most part.
