“Down”

Released May 9, 2006
Produced by Freeheat and Nicole Cremers
Promotional Use Only

First single from Freeheat's long awaited debut 17 song album. With LP remastering/resequencing duties in the hands of NYC icon Kramer (Linda Draper, Low, Galaxie 500) the original masters were eventually shelved. With the LP's released delayed by three months, the single was brought together quickly, with track selection by Neil DelParto and artwork by Ben Lurie.

Live tracks recorded at the live at the Paradiso, Amsterdam. Licensed from Dutch radio VPRO - for more information: http://3voor12.vpro.nl.

The flip-side is a boogie-woogie whiskey-soaked rock-n-roll number called “What Goes Around” and it might outdo the single “Down” with a tremendous live performance rendition that you barely know is live it’s so crisp and clear until the clapping at the end. The tunes are both guitar-centric opuses that are garage rock friendly and alternative rock crunchy. Jim Reid is the singer/guitarist and a founding member of the Jesus & Mary Chain and along with guitarist Ben Lurie who was also a former member of that seminal indie outfit. Their bass player also used to be in a band you might have heard of called the Gun Club. Gnarly riffage that sets up the anticipation level for their upcoming full-length “Back on the Water”.
